Drabble

I learned a new word this week - drabble.

A drabble is (and I wikiquote) an extremely short work of fiction of exactly one hundred words in length not necessarily including the title. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space.

No...I said drabble
It is also a damning indictment of how my life has altered. There was a time where the ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space would have involved a person of the opposite sex and would have taken place in a train bathroom or the like.

Still, I'm never one to step down from a challenge (unless it looks hard or the challenger is bigger than me or looks angry) and so I had a crack at producing my first ever drabble.

The fruits of my labour will be on Shortbread Stories very soon so look out for a very short piece of somewhere between 99 and 101 words entitled Forecast.
